an attack on US strongholds through out Southern Vietnam by the VC
Tet was the New Years of Vietnam
eventually developed as a US win
shook the public, who thought the enemy close to defeat
LBJ struggles Congress cuts his power
Public Opinion Changes
US involvment in the war is openly critizied
new defense securty says it is unwinnable
Johnson is looked at as a bad president.
Johnson says he will not run again
Martin Luthern King is Killed five day later of Johnson Speech
King death made riots grow and anger is showed
Bobby Kennedy runs for president and then is killed
Humphrey, Nixon, and Wallace for president
Nixon wins 43% of popular vote and 56% wins electoral vote.
